Technical Superintendent
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for Company vessel asset inventories, marine operations, maintenance and personnel matrix.
- Ensuring that vessels under the company’s management are maintained as per Flag State and Classification Society Rules, applicable International Regulations and the SMS Operating Procedures.
- Keeps record of vessels specification date, plans/drawings and technical manuals; and where applicable, must keep such documents updated as per the latest.
- Controls vessels maintenance record and monitor incoming technical reports from vessels.
- Inspect vessels as per the requirements of the SMS Operating Procedures; and submit reports to the Fleet Technical Manager.
- Checking ships requisition orders and forward such orders to the CEO for approval with recommendations as for the urgency status. Also, to ensure that the correct and approved specifications of items will be/ have been supplied.
- Monitor ship’s Spare parts and engine stores inventory and act for any forthcoming job’s short on spare parts.
- Ensuring that the vessels is ready for any forthcoming Statutory or Classification survey, including follow up of readiness of class continuous machinery survey items.
- Arrange for and plan for dry-docking of vessels, and coordinate the necessary repairs and jobs to be done as per “Work List”. The Technical Superintendent must keep the dry docking “Work List” updated and keep the Marine Manager and Managing Director informed accordingly.
- Recommends any amendments or change of documents for any part there in related to the technical aspects of the SMS.
- In addition to those responsibilities as per the requirements of the SMS Operating Procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be able to multi-task and handle heavy workload effectively.
- Possesses a high degree of maturity, integrity and energy levels, good judgment and listening capability.
- Should be an aggressive go-getter and should be conceptually strong.
- Be trained in, and familiar with, current emergency procedures and field contingency plans.
- Be trained in, and have comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance principles and their implementations to the relevant operation.
PHYSICAL STRAIN
- Must be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A duly qualified Master Mariner or a Marine Specialized person holding a Bachelor or Master Science Degree in the Field of Maritime Safety (Nautical) with seagoing experience as a duly qualified officer.
- Minimum 8 years total experience in offshore marine operations.
F. HSE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge of planning, execution and reporting of the relevant offshore works.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
